SKYCACHE RELEASE 1.0 CONFIGURATION SPECIFICATIONS

Entera

Compatible/Recommended Version:   TeraNode version 1.0 and up

Peering with SkyCache CA

To peer the SkyCache CA with the Entera TeraNode cache, you will need to add some configuration variables for the ICP agent. To get to this table, click on 'Configure' from the Administration Services menu, next click on 'Configuration Values', and then view the ICPv2 table.

At the bottom of this table, click the 'Add New Variable' hyperlink, and add the following variables:

set this variable to the IP address of the SkyCache CA
This settings places the SkyCache CA within the access control list for ICP neighbor functions.

  • ICP_ACL_TRUSTED_SKYCACHE

set this variable to the IP address of the SkyCache CA
This setting allows the SkyCache CA to make ICP queries to the cache.

  • ICP_NEIGHBOR_SKYCACHE

set this variable with the appropriate settings for the SkyCache CA, as per:
icp host : icp port : http host : http port
  company.downlink.skycache.com:3132:company.downlink.skycache.com:3134
This is the configuration line to send queries for miss objects to the SkyCache CA.

  • ICP_UDP_ADDR

set this variable to the IP address of the TeraNode cache

After all variables have been set, restart the ICP agent from the Monitor menu under Administrative Services

Notes

To verify that you are receiving objects properly from the SkyCache feed, look in the HTTP logs and verify that objects that are requested from the SkyCache CA are being retrieved with a retrieval method of SIBLING_HIT. If objects are being retrieved directly and not via the SkyCache CA, you will want to make sure your peering with the SkyCache CA is setup properly.

Statistics about hit rates and performance within the web management interface will be tainted by the SkyCache feed, due to the method involved in getting objects into the cache. Counters for hit rate percentages in particular will appear much lower than their actual value. To get accurate numbers for cache performance, logs will need to be pulled from the server and post-processed with connections from the SkyCache CA removed.
