The alliance represents the first time that a totally
integrated solution for news delivery has been made available to these groups. Under the
agreement, SkyCache will broadcast Usenet news service via high-speed satellite to bCandid
customers and will resell bCandid's commercial line of news software to ISPs around the
globe. Jointly, bCandid and SkyCache will sell bundled delivery solutions to their
customers, which include national Internet backbone providers, major telecommunications
companies and local ISPs. Together, the two companies currently serve over 800 customers
world-wide.
"Joining bCandid's Cyclone and Typhoon software with the
SkyCache satellite broadcast feed provides the ultimate news solution - this is something
that can help all ISPs from the small to the corporate. This is a winner," said
SkyCache Founder and CEO Doug Humphrey.
"Our two companies will work together to develop a turn-key
solution of hardware, bCandid software and SkyCache service for totally integrated news
delivery. We'll also build a seamless technical support system for our customers, who will
only need to make a single phone call to get quality, round-the-clock support
services," said Bob Marggraf, COO of SkyCache.
"The partnership between bCandid and SkyCache simplifies life
considerably for ISPs and other enterprises that provide Usenet news service," said
bCandid President and CEO Frank Bergen. "Until now, the process of delivering Usenet
discussions meant that an enterprise had to buy hardware from one vendor, news feed
service from a second vendor and technical support from yet a third vendor. For the first
time in the Internet's history, one-stop shopping through the bCandid and SkyCache
partnership will be all that it takes to find a solution for reliable Usenet news delivery
and support."
SkyCache uses satellite technology to speed the distribution of
high-bandwidth content and streaming media across the Internet. SkyCache broadcasts
high-bit rate Web content and Usenet news directly to the edge of the Internet and will
soon add on audio and video streaming services.
SkyCache services, delivered at speeds up to 45 megabits per second
by the end of the year, are designed to produce cost savings and improved end-user
experience. Subscribers to SkyCache-powered ISPs receive access to high-demand,
high-bandwidth content, free from server overloads and the Internet congestion problems
associated with terrestrial networks.
About bCandid
